Forget the logies!!!

Blogger Award!

Kerrie from In My Sewing Room has given me this blogger award!  I am totally humbled that she chose me!   Thank you Kerrie for reading my blog and finding it worthy of returning too!

We actually have a lot in common.  Like Kerrie, I have only been blogging since October 2010 and I also started simply as a way to keep a journal of the quilts that I have made and that I am currently working on.  I also discovered a wonderful group of online quilters in the blogging community.   I have found it so enriching and inspiring and encouraging to join this community. I have made some lovely friends around the world and have learned so much.  I can't imagine ever winding up my blog.  It would be like cutting ties with friends!

So here's how the award works:

The Versatile Blogger Award rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post (done, thanks Kerrie!)
2. Tell 7 things about yourself that others might not know about you
3. Pass along the award to 15 newly discovered bloggers (I'm going with 5)
4. Contact these bloggers to let them know they’ve received the award

The five bloggers that I am passing the award on to are

Miss Fleur De Lis Quilts

Patchwork n Play

Bahama Dawn

The Red Headed Mermaid

Blueberry Patch

It was so hard to choose which blogs to pass this on to as there are so many that I follow and love.  i decided in the end to choose ones I haven't passed an award on to in the past.  Share the love around I say.  Make sure you get over to their blogs and check 'em out!

Now, seven things about me!  Hmmmm.

I can't remember what I said last time so I hope you forgive me if I double up.

1.  My mother taught me to sew, knit and crochet.  I don't do much knitting these days, I only crochet granny squares and obvious I sew.  I just pulled out a UFO granny square rug that I started fifteen years ago and am enjoying finishing it off, so much so that I think I will start another one after this.  Very useful for having in the car whilst waiting for the kids at various things and you don't need good lighting.

2.  I collect key rings and Christmas decorations from all over the world.  my mother started the keyring collection and my Frequent Flyer husband added to her collection in his travels.  When she passed away I brought the collection home.  I asked a friend of mine to put up two keyring boards the same size as the ONE that my mother had - but that wasn't enough.  Now I have four boards almost full and my son has one in is room.  They are a great conversation starter as there are so many unusual ones.

3. My favourite place to visit in the while world is Disneyland.  I love the shops in Downtown Disney out the front and I just love the fantasy, whimsy and colour inside.  That is one place I will be a heading back to as soon as I can after having my knees replaced in the next coupe of years.

4. I am also planning to do another trip to Houston's International Quilt Festival or maybe Padukah.  Not sure which.  But one thing is for sure - last time I went to Houston I went on my own - it was fabulous but lonely!  Next time I hope to meet up with at least some of my lovely blogging friends.

5. I used to do cross stitch - A LOT.  One day I will do a post about all the cross stitches I had framed and still have.  I hardly ever do any these days.   I much prefer sewing and quilting.

I don't usually add photos of myself but figured I would for this one.  This is ME (dah!) working on some hand sewing - binding on the great green monster, sewing in the ends of the quilting threads of the purple and red quilt folded on the ironing board, other small hand projects including my crocheted rug on the ironing board also.  Excuse the mess at the back of me - the up-ended ottoman is there because we are having the carpet cleaned today and allmy lounge room furniture is in the conservatory behind the wall to the right of the picture (which thankfully you can't see!). If you look carefully you can see three of the four keyring boards too.  And of course my two sewing buddies, Maisy (grey) and Snickers (black).

Make sure you check out Kerrie's blog and the girls whose blogs I have passed this on to.  And above all else...happy stitching!

  1. I love this picture, Jan-Maree! And you have to let me know if you go to Houston or Paducah! Diana and I are planning on going to Paducah next year (it's only an hour away from our parents' house) and Houston is a no-brainer, if we stay in Texas, that is!
